Revival - Heal Our Land

"if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

2 Chronicles 7:14 (NIV)

I have read a number of articles and comments declaring that there is no God because if there were, he wouldn't let all these bad things happen that have been happening - floods, tornados, Islamic extremism, to say nothing of the long term decline in family, morality, culture, .... The list goes on and on. But the question that truly begs itself is: why should God be nice to us - to America? Consider the Billy Graham quote in the image, particularly "yet the farther we get from God, the more the world spirals out of control." God isn't going to bless us in order to persuade us to return to him. We first need to return to God in order for God to bless us.

I am making a personal commitment to pray daily for national revival, to work at my own personal renewal and revival (see our personal revival page), and to encourage others to do the same - via this website, personal contact, comments on articles, evangelism attire, and by any other means I can come up with (suggestions welcome).

One thing I am doing is to pray daily through the great prayers of Nehemiah and Daniel (see our revival in America page). As I look at those two prayers, one thing stands out: both begin with: "the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with all (those) who love him and obey his commands." I'll repeat: "who keeps his covenant with those who love him and obey his commands." Do we love God and obey his commands? We all far short as individuals and moreso as a society. But if we humble ourselves confess our sins and turn back to God, he will do great things.

Consider starting a discussion on our revival discussion page. There are no comments yet, so why not be the first? Possible topics: why do we need revival and what can we do to promote revival?
