(09/26/2017) The Dallas Cowboys Find a Middle Way.  I disagree with the author.  The Dallas Cowboys are trying to have it both ways.  They are still bring protest and politics into the NFL.  And what the heck is being protested?  Racism?  Police brutality?  Donald Trump?  America?  Even if I agreed with the cause (and whatever they are protesting, I probably don't), protests don't belong at sporting events.

(09/25/2017) There are a great many articles concerning the NFL protests.  Before I link to some, a few comments.  First, professional sports should be about sports, not politics.  Employers are perfectly within their rights to punish behavior that reflects poorly on the employer.  The fact that the NFL has chosen not to do so tells you exactly where they stand.  Second, the prime focus of these protests is apparently police shootings of blacks.  Given that, relative to their crime rates, whites are more likely to be killed by police, this whole business is founded on a lie and is perpetuating that lie.  Third, the nation and our flag represent something that goes far beyond police and whatever you might think of them.  Disrespecting the flag is disrespecting our nation, our service men and women, our veterans, and every genuinely patriotic American.  While some owners are holding the line, many are not and the NFL could easily have put this whole thing to bed last year.  They deliberately chose not to and they have already begun to suffer the consequences.  Not all the players, coaches and owners support what is going on, but until the NFL gets politics out of the sport, I encourage everyone to find a more productive way to spend their time than watching the NFL.  I already have.  Now for some articles.  First this one: NFL Wins with Powerful Protests and Great Football.  No need to follow the link.  The writer supports the protests, blames Trump for politicizing, and somehow thinks the NFL is coming out on top.  Talk about projection.  American Legion Outraged After NFL Players Take a Knee During Anthem on National Gold Star Mothers Day.  Well, I'm outraged on other days as well.  And finally: ‘Sunday Night Football’ Ratings Down Again On Day Of Player Protests.

(09/23/2017) Should NFL Teams Fire Players Who Won't Stand for the National Anthem?  An additional question is, should the NFL fine or suspend such players?    If the protesting players were making these protests off the field, on their own time, I would think the answer should be no  Given what these protests have done to NFL viewership and hence revenues, any sensible owner and a sensible league would, in fact, fire, suspend or fine such players.  Note that progressives have managed to get people fired based on what they said or donated on their own time with their own money.  I know of no conservatives who support such tactics, unless the individual's actions indicate an inability to perform their job.

(08/24/2017) Ninth Circuit Court Rules Against Coach Fired for Mid-Field Prayers.  The court claims Coach Kennedy "took advantage of his position."  I guess you have to have a finely trained legal mind to come to this position based on this: "Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof;"  It is the Ninth, so it could be overturned.  But the fact is that true freedom of religion no longer exists in America.  The Left is working very hard to make it "freedom of worship," and history has show that when they achieve that, they are not going to stop.  Update: Judges Rule Football Coaches Cannot Pray on Football Field.  One thing I have noticed: in justifying these kinds of rulings, neither judges nor other supporters of the ruling ever actually quote the First Amendment to support their case.

(08/23/2017) Violence at Common rally detailed at arraignments.  First of all, we should thank the Boston Herald for reporting all this, though they fail to point out that these being arraigned were left-wing protesters who feel that violence against "fascists" is all OK.  But the key point is that most of the MSM has, yet again, managed to ignore violence by the left, preferring to focus on non-violent "violence" (speech, ideas, mere existence (I kid, I kid), etc.) by the right.

(07/13/2017) UCLA Purges Professor Keith Fink.  Campus remains hostile to free speech, conservatives.  I've heard it argued that the reason there are so few conservative professors is that there are so few qualified conservatives.  No, the answer is that most colleges are very hostile to conservatives.  This is obvious to conservative students who, as a result, are naturally inclined to pursue a non-academic career.  Colleges seem to have no desire to change that hostile environment.  Until parents and alumni send their money elsewhere, this will not change.

(06/19/2017) High School Grad Defies Administrators After They Told Her to Remove Jesus From Speech.  Note that the school superintendent seems to think that a student speaker saying a prayer at graduation is against the law.  What law?  The Constitution specifically prohibits Congress from making such a law, as do many state Constitutions (I don't know about Pennsylvania, where this took place).  Courts may have turned freedom of religion to freedom from religion, but that doesn't mean we should passively go along.  The Constitution is clear and the Courts are wrong.  Putting judges on the bench that actually believe in the rule of law - and in freedom of religion (and speech) is critical.
