(12/20/2018) Dennis Prager to Young Conservatives: ‘Everything the Left Touches, It Ruins.’  I agree with him 100%.  Look at everything the Left has control of or has influence in, and they are all ruined or in the process of being ruined.  Consider the following: the news media, academia and public education, entertainment, rule of law, tolerance (it is the Left, not the Right, that is intolerant), sports, science, even sex.  I know I am forgetting a bunch.  Everything the Left gets involved in, they turn political and thus begin to destroy.  And they do it with a fervor that puts us evangelicals to shame.

(12/06/2018) ‘Veggie Tales’ Is Racist and Don’t Bring Home the Bacon.  As an aside, it seems our colleges are spending vast amounts of time finding racism (and sexism, ...) everywhere rather than doing anything useful.  Not only is this a huge waste of money and brains, it has a major negative impact on our country.  We would all be incredibly better off it everyone spent their time trying to be a contributing member of society rather than wasting their time seeking out things to be offended by.  To say nothing of the fact that the perpetually offended are unhappy people.

(12/06/2018) Republicans More Likely to be Happily Married Than Democrats, New Study Reveals.  This is not surprising, since surveys show that conservatives are happier than liberals in general.  The question remains: do happy people tend to be conservative or do conservative values lead to happiness?  I'll go with the fact that religion (Christianity, in particular) is positively correlated with happiness. and religious people tend conservative.

(11/08/2018) UGA ETHICS employee caught taking GOP signs.  Those on the Left generally find it very easy to justify unethical behavior as being fully justified when exercised against "bad" people, namely conservatives, Republicans and committed Christians.  Historical note: We paid $10 for a snazzy Bush sign back in 2004.  We set it up well within our yard.  It was stolen.  That is a crime.  I don't know if taking signs from the public right-of-way is a crime but it certainly is unethical.  While I'm sure it has happened, I have never yet heard of an instance where Democrat signs have been taken.  This certainly says a lot about the ethics of the Right vs the Left.

(10/03/2018) Breaching the Field of Grievance Studies.  Suffice it to say that taxpayers and other are paying outrageous salaries to professors who not only produce nothing but drivel for publication.  If that were all, it would be bad enough.  But what they write is a positively harmful, and they teach this nonsense as well.  While we still have the STEM fields, and there a some good professors in the humanities, I would have to argue that outside of STEM, universities, on balance, are a net negative to American society and culture.  And universities have already begun to politicize STEM.

(08/01/2018) The Left's Ideas for Saving America's Soul Are Instead About Selling It.  Good article.  It is a response to an article on seven ways to save America's soul.  Read the whole thing, but the first item being responded to is "abortion right must be supported" though abortions should be "legal and rare."  "Rare" by having "quality sex education in school and easy access to contraceptives."  There is so much wrong with this even if you don't consider abortion to be murder - or even wrong.  We have had easy access to contraceptives for years - easy and inexpensive.  How has that worked out?  Quality sex education?  The Left's idea of quality sex education includes such gems as homosexual sex and transsexuals are perfectly normal, that promiscuity is fine as long as it is "safe."  If memory serves, studies show a negative correlation between such education in the public schools and reducing the pregnancy rate.  More could be said about progressive's notion of "rare" and whether they even want to achieve it, much less whether their "methods" work.

(07/24/2018) Our under-incarceration problem, Atlanta edition.  A 14 year-old committed armed robbery.  After serving 2 1/2 years of a 15 year sentence, a judge freed him because prison wasn't "helping" him.  There is more.  Read the details.  But at 17, he committed armed robbery and murder.  The judge who (repeatedly) freed him should be held accountable.  But we all know she won't be.  When we are not held accountable for bad decisions, we continue to make bad decisions.  As will this judge.

(07/17/2018) How Social Science Might Be Misunderstanding Conservatives.  Even the author does some misunderstanding, though he at least recognizes the problem.  The social sciences are dominated by liberals, and their biases cannot help but show in the way they frame their studies and present their questions.  This is true no matter how hard they try to be fair.  And many don't try to be fair at all.  Those on the Left believe that conservatives are bad people and love to trot out "studies" that confirm their views.  If the social sciences were dominated by conservatives, we'd still have the same problem, though I doubt conservatives would be as bad about deliberately producing biased studies.

(07/17/2018) CNN Panel Looks Off Camera, Starts Twitching When Asked to House Illegals.  Funny thing, isn't it?  When we are asked to actually bear the consequences of decisions we make or positions we advocate, we suddenly become more cautious.  Our "experts," opinion leaders and many politicians advocate open borders and allowing all sort of people to come into America unvetted.  They would never put them up in their own home - or immediate community - because they wouldn't want to take the risk or bear the cost.  Risk and cost - that is for the little people, for the deplorables.  Sigh.  We may be starting to turn this country around, but we have a long way to go.
