The King will reply, ‘I tell you the truth, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me.’

Matthew 25:40 (NIV)

Everyday Actions

Our 'actions' page is oriented primarily to specific actions that are currently relevant and that we should take now!  However, there are many actions and activities that we should strive to incorporate into our daily lives.  This site will attempt to help where it can, but for some of these, you are on your own.  Please send in your suggestions.  Hat tip: Ken R. who suggested the concept and several items for this page.

  • Volunteering with and donating to organizations that promote Christian values.  If you don't know of any, your church or Google can help you find one.

  • Be informed and knowledgeable, about your faith, about your country and about current events.  Know what your country stands for and what organizations support your ideals as well as those that do not. For example, read and study the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Federalist Papers, and other letters written by the founding fathers; read the Humanist Manifesto I and II and compare that to what the major political parties represent; read Alexis de Tocqueville's Democracy In America.  There are many other books that can help us to be informed citizens.

  • Be an informed voter. We not only need to be familiar with the candidates we wish to support, but we also need to be informed about candidates we do not support. This includes checking voter information guides and researching party platforms.

  • Become active in politics by supporting candidates that support Christian values. This can include donating to their campaign, participating in primary nomination activities in your local district, and attending campaign rallies when possible.

Here are some very simple things you can do.  Easy and painless, but you can have an impact that you never know about (new):

  • If you have jewelry, tee-shirts, buttons, hats and the like that have a Christian message, wear them!  If you don't have any, get some.  When other believers see you, they know they are not alone.  Of course, it goes without saying to always be on your best behavior so you can make a good impression on non-believers as well.

  • Bumper stickers?  Did I mention bumper stickers?  They are available many places, but here is one such place.  You can even have them custom made.  Get a bunch and give them to your friends (or to the Unshackled LIFE Group).
